Over time I have come to conclusion that Canion is not the most flexible and suitable system for strobism and off-camera shooting. You can find this out for yourself the second you try to use optical slaves with your Speedlite series strobes. Because after the first trigger Canon's flash retains an electric charge, the optical slave won't trigger again unless you either re-attach the slave or turn off the flash and turn it on again. Stay away from Hama products when it comes to optical slaves as these won't work... at least on 430EX and 430EXII models.
From eBay I found a seller that is selling optical slaves specifically created for these types of issues. In addition, the slave has an adjustable delay so that you can use this slave with pre-flash as well. It also has a synch chord port.
